Confirmation of the quality of work of Professor Danijel Mijic from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Gruića Vico from the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of East Sarajevo arrived these days from the International Telecommunication Union, a specialized agency of the United Nations.

Their software, OPTIMILK, has been nominated for the prestigious WSIS Prizes 2023 (World Summit on the Information Society Prizes 2023). OPTIMILK has thus been included among the 20 best ICT solutions in agriculture worldwide, and as the only representative from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

As the authors of this software highlighted, they learned about the nomination via email, which was a big surprise for them, given the renowned nature of the award and its strong competition.

Together with their colleagues and through the small local ICT company KOMPEKS, they created the software at the request of the Association of Agricultural Producers - Dairies of the Republic of Srpska.

"The purpose of the software is to improve the process of preparing meals for milking cows using complex simplex algorithms. Since the software is web-oriented and intended for a wide range of farmers, a particular challenge was to create a user-friendly interface that would facilitate its use by this specific group of users," said Mijic and Vico.

At the University of East Sarajevo, an interdisciplinary team has been formed, composed of researchers from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Agriculture, which has already developed and implemented several ICT solutions in various areas of agricultural production.
