- Cooperation between higher education institutions and the economic sector exists, and this project proves it. Our faculty has become an important scientific institution in the Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that is why we are included in important European projects - said Popović.
According to him, the Kalcea project is financed from European funds, and the budget of this project is around 900,000 euros.
- From part of those funds, we acquired very important equipment for the laboratory where we will test new technologies. We also provided equipment for a computer room where students will improve their knowledge - said Popović.
As he stated, science destroys all boundaries and prejudices, and cooperation at the scientific level is important for the development of society and education.
Project coordinator Afrodita Ktena, from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, explained that Kalcea "ERASMUS+" is a capacity-building project intended to strengthen capacities in the field of education, as well as professional training.
- One of the main goals of this project is the training of professionals who will be ready to participate in the processes of energy transition, i.e. the low-carbon economy - said Ktena.
Ktena added that the main goal of the project is the construction of centers of innovation and knowledge in which the latest technology in the field of low-carbon economy will be used, as well as international cooperation between the University of Athens and other universities in the European Union and the Western Balkans.
- This is the second project on which we are collaborating with the University of East Sarajevo and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and I hope there will be more in the future - concluded Ktena.
The rector of the University of Priština, based in Kosovska Mitrovica, Nebojša Arsić, stated that this university is a partner in this project, and that the university's cooperation gives good results.
- This project does not have the purpose of changing the curriculum, as some other projects have. It is aimed at the practical implementation of what students learn at the faculties in cooperation with research institutions as well as with the economy. We want to educate people who will not be unemployed - said Arsić.
According to Srđan Lalet, vice dean for education at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the key words that describe this project are "triangle of knowledge".- Говоримо о повезивању академских заједница и истраживачких центара и компанија.
The goal is for graduated engineers to find a job in the profession and to adapt to the trends and challenges that await them in work. One of those trends is certainly green energy, that is, new sources of energy - said Lale.
Lale points out that there is an energy transition in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it is imperative to switch from the classic way of producing electricity to renewable sources.
- We will try to educate engineers, master's and doctoral students, who will acquire knowledge and skills that will help them in designing, constructing and installing photovoltaic and other systems - said Lale.
